Letter of Introduction from Founder Krista Green:

Friends and Colleagues,

As you know, owning and operating a business in the professional organizing industry is a rewarding, challenging, eye-opening, wondrous experience, filled with many unique twists and turns in the road along the way.

In the seven years since starting OFL, my own business has grown, shrunk, expanded, contracted; we've won some, we've lost some; we franchised, became disenfranchised with franchising; hired and trained; kept some, let some go, some let us go, and let's just say it outright... if you want to talk about mistakes... boy oh boy have I made a LOT of them!!

Many of you know the story behind how I came to be in the organizing industry - one day in 2001 I was at a crossroads in my career and took out a pencil and began underlining the common threads and words on my report cards that my teachers had said were my strong suits, in an attempt to figure out my strengths and what I would enjoy doing most. The result? The first word on every report card from Kindergarten to Grade 12 was "organized." The second most common thing was that I "talked a lot" - and last, but not least, was that I had won quite a number of essay contests and writing awards, and had even been to a Young Author's conference (none of which I had remembered at the time until I saw it there, staring back at me in black and white). So... on that blank sheet of paper in front of me, I had written three words:

Organizing
Speaking
Writing

Not long ago I was reminded of these three words, and suddenly realized that nowhere to be found on that list was "rapidly growing your company across North America"or any such thing. It was at that moment it dawned on me just how far off the path I was from where I had originally intended and set out to go. I realized that part of what makes me "me" is that I LOVE having impact first-hand, and changing lives in an intimate, intensely personal way. I realized the enormous value I personally place on the word freedom, and the ways in which all of what I was doing was setting me up for a life that would give me very little of that. But I couldn't help but ask myself, what on earth had I just spent the past five years doing, if I wasn't going to go ahead with our North American expansion plans? To just abandon the enormous amount of work we'd put into creating the manuals, systems, processes, methodologies, templates, forms, training program and the brand certainly didn't seem like the answer.

I believe everything happens for a reason, and no moment will have been without purpose at the end of one's life. And in the case of my own life, those five years of mistake making and heartache I now see were part of the master plan of the divine design of my life.

And on a Monday morning in September 2007, at 10:30am, it struck me just why I had been making all the mistakes I had been making and doing everything I had been doing - I'd been doing it for you. (Well... doing it for ME, so that I could speak with full authority on what not to do, but you know what I mean).

The Organized for Life® 4-Disc Audio Series for Professional Organizers takes into account all the mistakes I've made in growing and expanding my business, and is a frank and candid what-I-wish-I'd-have-known series dedicated to Organizing Professionals wishing to take their businesses to the next level - without all the mishaps. I'm here to serve, and there is no other community of people I would enjoy working with than you, my friends and colleagues.

So thank you - from the bottom of my heart. Thank you for embracing me the way you have these past six years, and for encouraging me to continue to get dirty, fall down, get back up, brush myself off and continue to push the envelope in this industry in the only way I knew how to at any given moment.

It is my honor - and my true pleasure - to serve you.
